Updated June 29, 2011 07:08:00 Central Coast plateau residents say any plan to build Sydney's second airport in the region is ill-considered and unrealistic.
The Mayors of Gosford and Wyong have jointly announced the plateau area of Kulnura, Peats Ridge and Somersby would be an ideal location for the airport.
About 60 plateau residents met this week to discuss the issue.
One of them, Peter Smith says the community is furious as the region has never been considered a 'highly' preferred airport site.
"All we've heard from both the Mayors is what the benefits will be," he said.
"Well for every benefit there's going to be a negative impact but none of that's talked about.
"But what I do know is this - the Somersby site was well down the list for preferred sites.
"Two sites south of Sydney were preferred."
The issue will be discussed by a joint meeting of the local Councils tomorrow night.
